We are itsme®, one of Europe’s fastest-growing scale-ups, counting 85 team members and growing. Our mission: providing a state-of-the-art digital identity solution to all people, enabling them to interact securely in the digital space. Now, only six years after being founded, nearly 7 million citizens use the itsme app, to identify themselves and sign documents online. Starting in Belgium, we successfully launched the itsme® app in 17 European countries, with the ambition to become an internationally leading player.

As a Senior Digital Product Designer (UX) at itsme®, you will play a crucial role in shaping the user experience for its more than 7 million users. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, marketers, to create intuitive and accessible designs that meet the needs of our users.

What your job looks like

  • Collaborate with product managers, solution architects, developers, and stakeholders to shape new features from concept to launch

  • Clearly document and communicate design decisions to stakeholders across all levels, including leadership and development teams

  • Contribute to the overall product experience and long-term design vision

  • Translate user needs and business goals into clear, intuitive, and engaging designs

  • Create wireframes, wireflows, and high- and low-fidelity prototypes (primarily in Figma)

  • Ensure consistency with our design system while driving innovation where appropriate

  • Identify gaps in the design system and define requirements for new or updated components in collaboration with the design system owner

  • Plan and conduct user research and usability testing, together with our (external) UX research partners, to inform and validate design decisions

  • Leverage user insights and data to guide and support design choices

  • Advocate for user needs while balancing technical constraints and business goals

  • Work closely with product managers and functional analysts during the feature refinement phase to ensure all business and user needs are clear

  • Work closely with developers during implementation to ensure high-quality execution of designs

  • Stay up to date with trends and best practices in UX/UI, product design, and user behaviour

  • Apply meaningful placeholder copy in designs to support copywriting

  • Design with accessibility in mind, ensuring compliance with European Accessibility Guidelines

Job requirements

  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Digital Product Designer or similar role.

  • Capable of collaborating effectively within a team while also demonstrating the ability to independently manage your workload

  • Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and UX best practices

  • Profound knowledge of mobile-first design patterns

  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of digital design projects, including mobile app design.

  • Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe CS and Figma.

  • Ability to effectively communicate design concepts and rationale to cross-functional teams

  • Experience working in an agile development environment

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
