We are itsme®, one of Europe’s fastest-growing scale-ups, counting 90 team members and growing. Our mission: providing a state-of-the-art digital identity solution to all people, enabling them to interact securely in the digital space. Now, only five years after being founded, close to 8 million citizens use the itsme® app, to identify themselves and sign documents online. Starting in Belgium, we successfully launched the itsme app in 17 European countries, with the ambition of becoming an internationally leading player.

We are seeking a highly ambitious corporate development professional to help drive growth through acquisitions and investments. This is an amazing opportunity if you are strategic and relationship-driven and have the track record to source, evaluate and shape M&A opportunities in terms of product and geographical expansion.

What your job looks like  

  • Market scanning & deal sourcing – Proactively monitor the M&A landscape to identify and source acquisition and investment opportunities. Build and sustain strong relationships with investment banks, private equity/venture capital houses, advisors and other deal sourcing partners. Represent itsme® at industry events and forums to stay ahead of market trends and uncover new opportunities. Act as an internal M&A radar, ensuring senior leadership is aware of industry dynamics, competitor activity and relevant opportunities. 

  • Pipeline management & target relationships – Build and maintain a dynamic pipeline of potential acquisition targets across prioritised product areas and geographies. Collaborate with senior leadership to initiate and nurture relationships with potential targets, investors, advisors and other key market players.  

  • Opportunity qualification & cross-functional coordination – Lead assessments of identified opportunities, evaluating strategic fit, synergy potential, competitive position and financial viability. Coordinate input from cross-functional teams – including innovation, product, revenue and finance – to ensure opportunities are effectively screened and prioritised. Develop business cases and investment theses for potential transactions. 

  • Deal coordination & execution – Manage deals from due diligence to deal closing, ensuring alignment between cross-functional teams and legal, financial and commercial advisors. Support negotiation and execution of transaction documents and contribute to integration planning. 

  • M&A growth strategy – Support the development and refinement of our M&A strategy in line with growth objectives, including product diversification and international expansion. Contribute to strategic discussions by providing intelligence on industry dynamics, consolidation patterns and M&A trends. 

Job requirements

  • Master's degree in business, finance, economics or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus. 

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in investment banking, private equity/venture capital, corporate development or strategy consulting.  

  • Must have experience with buy side

  • Proven experience in sourcing, developing and evaluating M&A or strategic investment opportunities 

  • Passion for technology, exposure to the tech sector is a plus. 

  • Strategic thinker with a quick understanding of market trends, competitive intelligence and synergies. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven ability to build relationships with targets and deal sourcing partners. 

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with evolving priorities. 

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to distil complex ideas into C-level insights. 

  • Fluent in English and native in Dutch or French.
