Job description

itsme® has fundamentally changed how people lead their digital lives in Belgium, but we are not stopping there! Do you want to be a driving force to help expand on this success story as part of a talented team that is making a positive impact on society? Then keep on reading, you’ll probably like what you’ll see.

We are itsme®, one of Europe’s fastest-growing scale-ups, with 115 team members and growing. Our mission: to provide a state-of-the-art digital identity solution for all people, enabling them to interact securely in the digital space. Now, only nine years after being founded, close to 8 million citizens use the itsme® app to identify themselves and sign documents online. Starting in Belgium, we successfully launched the itsme app in 32 European countries, with the ambition of becoming an internationally leading player.

We’re looking for a Business Controller with a revenue focus to take ownership of revenue planning, forecasting, and performance analysis across our commercial portfolio. The role combines strong financial modelling and analytical rigour with commercial judgement, ensuring that revenue is understood, forecast, and managed as a core driver of the company’s P&L.

Sitting within the Finance & Business Operations team, you will act as the financial business partner to commercial leadership, translating contract and pipeline data into robust forecasts, scenario models, and decision-grade insights. You will own the revenue side of the P&L from a controlling perspective and play a key role in shaping commercial strategy through financial analysis.

What your job looks like

  • Budgeting & Forecasting: You own the revenue side of the annual budget and rolling forecast. You build bottom-up, driver-based forecasts grounded in contract data, pipeline, and transaction trends, and own the monthly variance analysis vs. budget and prior periods. You translate financial outcomes into a clear narrative for leadership and challenge assumptions where the numbers don’t hold up.

  • Financial Modelling & Commercial Strategy: You build and maintain the financial models that underpin commercial decisions, ranging from pricing and discount frameworks to customer cohort, contract value, and scenario / sensitivity analyses. You evaluate the financial impact of new pricing models, contract structures, and go-to-market initiatives, and bring a numerate, P&L-aware perspective to commercial strategy discussions with leadership.

  • Revenue Operations & P&L Ownership: You safeguard the integrity of revenue data end-to-end — from contract and pricing setup in our billing and ERP systems through to recognised revenue and accounts receivable. You own the revenue line and key sub-segments of the P&L from a controlling perspective, ensure correct application of revenue recognition principles, and drive month-end close activities related to revenue, deferred revenue, and A/R.

  • Business Partnering & Insights: You act as a trusted financial partner to commercial leadership, producing the analyses, dashboards, and reporting that inform key decisions on customers, products, and segments. You surface insights on revenue trends, customer profitability, and pipeline conversion, and bring them into a regular business review cadence with leadership.

Job requirements

  • You have 3-5 years of relevant experience in business controlling, FP&A, revenue controlling, audit, or a finance role with strong analytical content — ideally with exposure to a SaaS, subscription, or scale-up environment

  • Advanced Excel skills and proven financial modelling capability — driver-based forecasts, scenario and sensitivity analysis, pricing and contract modelling

  • Comfortable working with ERP / financial systems (NetSuite or similar) and CRM data (e.g. Salesforce)

  • Ability to translate financial analysis into clear recommendations, and to communicate confidently with both finance and commercial stakeholders

  • High attention to detail with strong data integrity discipline

  • Familiarity with P&L ownership, revenue recognition principles (IFRS 15), or month-end close processes is a strong plus

  • You are fluent in English and native Dutch or French.

What we offer

  • Being welcomed by an informal, enthusiastic, and ambitious team that is revolutionising how we safely manage our digital identity, in Belgium & beyond.

  • Offices within walking distance from Brussels Central Station, with the possibility to work remotely 3 days a week.

  • A contract of indefinite duration, with an attractive compensation package.

  • An environment where we care a lot about our core values:

    • Impact: Lead by example and create positive influence.

    • Resourcefulness: Connect, mobilise, and collaborate across ecosystems.

    • Curiosity: Explore, learn, and challenge the status quo.

    • Scale: Build strong foundations for sustainable growth.

    • Humble: Respect, listen, and embrace feedback for growth.
